Elizabeth A. Sandahl Burial Service and Holy Eucharist

    ELIZABETH "LIZ" SANDAHL, 89, of West Des Moines passed away peacefully on Friday, August 12, 2016 in her home, with her husband and family.

    Funeral Services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, August 27 at Cathedral Church of St. Paul, 815 High Street, Des Moines. Bishop Alan Scarfe, Dean Troy Beecham and Deacon John Doherty will be officiating. A gathering for memories and conversation will be held after the service at the Sandahl's home where a lunch will be shared with her family and many friends.

    Elizabeth A. "Liz" Sandahl was born on November 2, 1926 in Bradenton, FL to Francis K. and Evelyn (Kirberg) Lytle. Liz grew up in Sioux City, Iowa and spent summers with her family in Lake Okoboji, IA. It was at the lake where she developed her love of sailing and met her husband. 

    She graduated from St. Mary's (Shattuck-St. Mary's) Episcopal School in Faribault, MN. She also attended Iowa State University. She was a member of Junior League, PEO and PTA.

    She was preceded in death by her parents, Francis and Evelyn Lytle; a sister, Janet "Sissy" Weber; a brother, Robert Lytle and her son, Douglas Craig Sandahl.

    She is survived by her husband, Craig Sandahl; her children, Suzy (Mel) Miller, Stephen (Judy) Sandahl, Craig (Cindy) Sandahl, Elise Donnon and Karin Sandahl; and her brothers, C. F. "Bud" Lytle and John (Kay) Lytle. She was known fondly as "Nonnie" to 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, CJ (Heidi) Morton, Michael Morton, Daniel (Joletta) Morton (Austin, Olivia, Maxwell), Leigh Morton (MacKenzie, Emilie, Rylie), Scott (Lori) Sandahl (Callie), Shannon Sandahl (Andrew), Ryan (Laura) Sandahl (Ellen, Clark, Elliott), Shawn (Tyler) Sandahl, Stescey (Ron) Blum (Gyllian, Gabriella), Conrad Sandahl (Brice), Eric Sandahl and Brendan Donnon.
