Monday, August 5 - Friday, August 9
8:30 am - 12:30 pm
Ages: 8 - 13
Registration Fee: $50
(includes all materials, lunch and snacks; scholarships available)
Camp Leaders: Ms. Lexie Thiessen and Ms. Beth DeVries
Both are local, professional elementary music teachers and members of the Cathedral Choir.
The camp will highlight creative expression using a variety of art forms exploring the ways faith and arts intersect. At the core of the camp is a short musical, “It’s Okay to Be Different” by Grier and Everson.
The theme of God’s inclusive love for all of creation is celebrated in song, drama, and movement. It is a well-crafted, developmentally appropriate musical for youth lending time for vocal and dramatic educational components. In addition to the musical, time will be devoted to liturgical music, art, and architecture. The beauty of the downtown, historical churches will be included in an architectural tour.
The week will culminate with a performance of the musical on Friday evening, August 9th at 7pm.
Excerpts of the musical will be sung during the Sunday, August 11th 10am Service. This artistic education opportunity will connect young people to the liturgical, Cathedral arts traditions.
If you have questions, please contact Cathedral Organist/Choirmaster Mark Babcock ( ).
